Husband and wife team, John and Nicky Walsh, compete successfully on rallies and together they organise “The French Revolution” rally event.

They campaign either a 1928 Lea Francis mainly on VSCC rallies, or a 1955 TR2 on Continental events, so are well aware of all the demands on the driver, navigator and car.

In 1996 Conquest Events was formed with the philosophy of organising an historic rally event that combined traditional regularity rallying with delightful hotels, outstanding scenery and places of interest.

Today, Conquest’s French Revolution Rally is designed to provide interesting and challenging routes, into which are woven non-timed sections and a chance to admire rural France. Each day there are several Café Controls, where crews can take a break. Timings and classes are designed to enable all vintage and classic cars to compete on an equal basis.

The competitive side is planned to let expert rallyists have the chance to test their skills, whilst novices can also have all the fun of the run without putting the navigator or car under too much strain.

Navigation is by the use of Tulip Diagrams, so obviating the need to use maps or buy expensive navigational aids and the rules and regulations are kept as simple as possible.

Accommodation is always arranged at typical French hotels (3 or 4 star) with plenty of opportunity to enjoy the facilities and relax with friends. On longer rally days, lunch halts are arranged for competitors to pause a while. Some afternoons and evenings are left free for crews to discover the delights of the local restaurants and cafés.

The rally begins with a Gala Welcome Dinner, has a Mid Week dinner and finishes with the Prize Giving and Celebration Dinner with great entertainment.

Each year we visit and explore a different area of France and many entrants return to rally their classic car with us again and again. Conquest Events’ rallies are firmly established as a sociable as well as a sporting event, and we strive to ensure that this tradition will continue.
